Single Umbilical Artery
There is a single umblical artery. This is a soft marker for chromosomal abnormalities. Recommend correlation with serum/nuchal translucency results if available. No other anatomic abnormalities are identified, however would suggest dedicated physician-directed fetal survey (level 2 ultrasound) and fetal echocardiogram due to the increased incidence of cardiac anomalies
*Disclaimer* This "macro" is an example of what we sometimes say and it's use will depend on the clinical situation and cannot be applied to all cases. Their use assumes that a complete sonogram using the AIUM/ACOG/ACR guidelines have been performed by a certified licensed practitioner and the scan is otherwise normal.
